My Little Steroid Witch Hunt

UPDATED 4/19/04

What exactly am I measuring?

HGH (human growth hormone) is nortorious for growing a body's features, especially the face.  HGH use increases chin, cheek, forehead, and even nose size.  When someone absues this drug, many times their face will literally increase in size.  Above, I show you two examples.

HGH is used usually with the use of anabolic steroids so one can icnrease muscle mass without damaging their tendons, ligaments, and ect.  Anabolic steroids are infamous for making players more "injury prone", but HGH helps combat that.  That's why the appearance of HGH abuse (abusing it is the only way facial structures will grow) leads to strong suspician of anabolic steroid use.

One, Mike Mussina, is a pitcher who did not change body weight and obviously does not take anything enhancing drug such as HGH.  The second example is a man who gained a lot of weight since the beginning of his career, Cliff Floyd.  It is entirely possible he gained this weight naturally/legally by working out or taking Creatine.  However, he could of also used HGH.  However, even though his face appears more filled out, whether it be form increased water retention from creatine use or just overally more fat in the face, his bone structure did not change, thus he most probably gained this weight naturally.

So how do I determine this?  Two rather simple methods.  One is I put a rookie player next to the most recent picture of a player.  It is as simple as using simple visual observation.

However, look at the picture below which almost without doubt proves that "the greatest hitter ever", Barry Bonds, is most definitely abusing HGH.

The method used here is simply putting lines from one body feature's extreme to the next (such as left to right cheek or left to right forhead.)  By simply comparing two proprotionally equal pictures (this is assessed by taking one picture and superimposing the other over it and when the eye of one player is the exact size of his same eye from the other picture when picture size is adjusted) and measuring their features.  Furthermore, one can take the superimposed pictures, put them on top of each other, and literally just put lines between where the features of the given player in one picture is larger than the other.

By superimposing the picture one can visually see the difference in facial structure between an old and new picture.  Furthermore, one can take the lines that are between the facial features and simply place them at a point where we can see the difference between them.

The point?  Barry Bonds is a fraud and should be kicked out of the sport and have his MVPs revoked.  And some props for Cliff Floyd.

If you want to have any player checked, just leave a message here or email me at cat6@geneseo.edu  If possible, try to provide pictures with the man looking straight forward, because it is easier and more precise that way.  May the witch hunt, err, search for truth go on.

Jason Giambi Uses HGH

user posted image

Yes, he does.  He openly uses HGH so we can analyze what HGH use does to the body.  Nevertheless, here's an excerpt from joemuscle.com (http://www.1dietproduct.com/giambi.html)

"The New York Yankee's first-baseman, and American League’s 2000 MVP, Jason Giambi, also begins his day with a packet of hGH Promino-Plus AM, followed by breakfast.

Forty-five minutes after breakfast, Jason prepares for cardiovascular and weight training by taking one Diurlean, and one Zenotrope capsule.

Immediately after training, Jason mixes in skim milk, one packet of Complete Pro Power with two scoops of Complete Whey Power and one Super Vitamin Pak.

Around forty-five minutes prior to bedtime, Giambi takes two scoops of Complete Whey Power in water or juice.

Right before going to bed, Jason takes one packet of hGH Promino-Plus PM."

Even after the Balco controversy, what is known is that Giambi uses HGH (human growth hormone) to increase muscular strength.  However, it is known the hormones, in particular HGH help increase tendon and ligament size, which in turn reduces or eliminates muscular "tightness".  Pitchers as well as hitters can now avoid tightness and a lot of injury by using both a steroid and a HGH.  Whether or not Giambi uses both is not known, however it is certanly a possibiltiy, especially because of how HGH and anabolic steroids coincide in improving an athletes strength.

Note:  Picture is proof that measurements are for real, observe the two different "rookie" pictures (Team USA and Goldpanners) and their almost identical sizes.

Just adding two more pictures made by Craig.

Here you can see Jose Canseco and Ken Caminitti, two steroid users who admitted to what they were doing.  (As we all know)  We can see that the foreheads and cheekbones have both grown on both of these users.  Just to show you that it is not exactly a photo-trick or anything that Craig has done to Barry Bonds.

Now for a shocking discovery:

Sammy Sosa Doesn't Juice

"Holy crap" is all I was able to say when Craig has just proven that Sosa's bone structure has supposedly remained unchanged.  Very very disappointing.  There goes all of those rumors that Sosa has been using bigger batting helmets over the years.  It is a possibility that Sosa is not a steroid abuser.  Now, it can just be that Sosa does not face the bone expanding side effect and that his cartoonish facial puffy-ness is from creatine.  I personally still think that Sosa is on the juice.  What gives when his body gets larger and smaller throughout the year?  Oh well, I guess if this was a court he'd be innocent, because he sure has not been proven guilty.  Well he is still "corky" and very suspicious.

Editor's Note: Damn, he is the only guy who broke Maris' record without increased testosterone and other hormones and such.  To take steroids and avoid injury as Sammy has is impossible without HGH use, which there is no evdience of.

Roger Clemens abuses HGH! 2/11/04

Roger Clemens might be one of the most dominant pitchers in history and he has evidently done this with gross HGH abuse and probably anabolic steroid use.  He admitted that he squats heaviver weights now then he did in college.  His face did not grow, because of fat, look at his workout here: http://www.onlineathleticclub.com/resources/rocket.asp.  According to the people who run that site, the workout is a joke and they say he should "thank his genetics" for staying in such good shape.  I say thanks to banned substances.

It is a shame that yet another hall of famer is a cheater, but that's what one is to expect.

Edgar Martinez Clean?  2/14/04

Edgar was very hard to do, because his eyes in the best "face forward" picture available are obviously not that good.  I had to my best to match up the eyes with the picture to the left and I even fiddled around with minor league pictures of Edgar Martinez to get his picture to the best possible size.  From observing the closeness in the above measurements and just using plain observation, I am edging towards that Edgar probably does not abuse HGH and because his body is so fragile, I would believe he cannot gamble to use steroids either.

However, be your own judge.  Here are some pictures of Edgar:

His head looks the same size, but he certainly has lost that baby face!  Could he be on steroids?  He does have an injur history, but he played on turf and that can certainly mess you up.  Furthermore, he still very effective at an old age without the appearance of gross HGH abuse.

Alex Rodriguez, no apparent abuse 2/17/04

Alex Rodriguez face does not show growth.  In fact, in the younger photo of him his forehead is bigger because his head is pointing towards the photographer.  He had quite the consecutive game sstreak going for a while and plays a demanding position.  Evidently, if he used HGH it is not at the level of other ballplayers and furthermore this decreases the probability of steroid use.

Kevin Brown likes his HGH?

The difference is small, but is it definitely there.  Is his face bloated a little from creatine?  Is it old age?  I do not know, but his body is chisled, he's not fat, and his face is definitely a little bit larger, so I assume that there's good reason to believe he uses HGH.  Furthermore, his recent injuries (which HGH helps prevent) can indicate steroid use, however when there's a pitcher like Brown who regularly threw 250 innings a season in this modern era with vigirous bullpen sessions, injury can just occur without steroid use.  Is there reason for suspicion?  Definitely.

After much fanfare, an update comes in between term papers.  Nonetheless, there have been questions concerning posing, angles, and whether or not with natural age does a player's face grow naturally.  Well, this should answer all questions, a pitcure of Ken Griffey Junior as a rookie and one from the August of 2003.

After many years and packed on pounds, Griffey's head is close to identical.  There is no visual evidence of HGH or steroid abuse.

Now to fan mail:

From Celestino Teixeira:

your website is on the money,
However, not all steroids change your facial structure.  Primobolan depot,
winstrol, Anavar, and even Deca durabolin do not have great androgenic
properties, thus not changing a players facial structure. going by facial
structure alone is not enough to determine if a player is juicing? Sammy is
defintely juicing, however he isn't using HGH or testosterone. he could be
using Primo?

My reply:

Depending on who you talk to HGH is the ONLY substance capable of altering
facial structure.  What is 100% known is that HGH abuse certainly has the
capability to change facial structure.

However, Sosa's have not.  This can mean the following:
1.  He's not abusing steroids and especially HGH
2.  He's abusing both but have avoided side effects
3.  He's abusing just HGH but has avoided side effects
4.  He's just abusing steroids

Now, if he just took steroids and not HGH, he would be quite the physical
speciman, because he has avoided all steroid related injury (tendons,
joints, ect.)  Steroids will break down your body even with the help of
HGH, especially because the elasticity of movement baseball requires.
However, Sosa can be a freak of nature and avoid all injury and still
juice.  He can also be a freak of nature and not abuse HGH or steroids.
The jury is out.

After some time, I have also learned after watching the news that some doctors believe that increased testosterone CAN lead to the side effects produced by HGH.

I have found the following on Primo:

"Side effects with Primobolan Depot are minimal and manifest them-selves only rarely and in persons who are extremely sensitive. Due to the androgenic residual effect, side effects include light acne, deep voice or increased hair growth. Primobolan Depot has even less in-fluence on the liver function than the oral form so that an increase of the liver's toxin values is extremely unlikely. The blood pressure, cholesterol level, HDL and LDL values, as with Primo tablets, usu-ally remain unaffected. Primobolan Depot is generally the safest in-jectable steroid. Athletes whose liver values strongly increase when taking anabolic steroids but who still do not want to give up their use, under periodical supervision of these values, can go ahead and try a stack of Primobolan Depot, Deca-Durabolin, and Andriol. Primobolan Depot, like the tablets, has only a very small influence on the hypothalamohypophysial tes-ticular axis so that the body's own testosterone production is only reduced when very high dosages are taken over a prolonged period of time."

It is technically not as good of a muscle building steroid, but a steroid nonetheless.  It is used by female athletes because of less sexual side effects and so it is the "relatively safe" steroid.  However, increasing muscle mass still creates tightness, so how Sosa was able to avoid these injuries is a testament to great genetics.  So "minimal side effects" is not quite "none" so Sosa I remain with "the jury is still out."

Gary Sheffield + Balco + THG + HGH = Bigger Gary

I find it fairly obvious that Gary Sheffield, who received packages from Baclo also seems to used what those boxes contained.  Notice the sides of his head left and right of his eyes.  There's simply more bone.  It is not a matter of weight, his head grew and I find all those implicated in the Balco controversy are most likely guilty.

I plan on in my next update to do a player or so that is not blatantly accused of steroid use.

Jim Thome Should Teach Those Kids How To Shoot Up

It was pretty difficult to find a passable rookie picture (this one is from 1992) of Jim Thome and the eye method was difficult to do.  However, I did my best and even matched up his ears and nose.  The result is that Jim Thome shows evidence of HGH abuse and I presume steroid use as well.  It is rather simple to observe left and right from Jim's eyes and that is not fat or muscle there...it is just added bone by the looks of it.

I always thought he was juicing anyway...

I'm really gald to hear that about A-Rod.  It's very refreshing to know that the best all-around player in baseball doesn't abuse substances, esp. since we got him now.  I think you should check out bernie and jeter next.  Their faces always look so eh...inflated.
